Library Services
BORROWING POLICY
Students may borrow up to 2 books for 2 weeks.
There are no fines charged for overdue books. You will be charged for lost or damaged materials. All materials must be returned two weeks before the end of the school year. You will not receive your final grades until all books are returned or paid for.
LIBRARY PASSES
Students should sign up in the library in order to stay after school since space is limited.
STUDENT BEHAVIOR
Students are expected to be respectful of each other, the teachers, and library materials. Each student must accept the responsibility for treating the materials with care, but more importantly for treating other library users with consideration.
Students who come here during recess must be here to use library materials and are expected to adhere to appropriate behavioral expectations.

CLASS VISITS
Teachers are encouraged to bring classes to the library. Please sign up in advance.
The library is equipped with print materials, an LCD projector, and 20 computers with Internet access and Microsoft Office.
Research projects should incorporate the use of information skills and utilize the Big6 process. Research papers should follow the MLA format. The library teacher is available for assistance.
INFORMATION SKILLS
Information skills are taught within the context of the school’s curriculum. Tantasqua has adopted the Big6 process of effectively using information. While conducting research for projects, students use the Big6 to identify, synthesize, and evaluate information that is appropriate for the task at hand. Students use information from a variety of formats, including print, audiovisual, and online resources.
